A NEV export group (vehicles to Europe, in-house powertrain + sourced interiors)

The group’s vehicle exports to Europe are growing fast, but EU green-compliance requirements are expanding from single products to whole-vehicle systems: batteries fall under the Battery Regulation and Digital Battery Passport; vehicles and parts will enter DPP-ESPR ecodesign; some leather interiors touch EUDR anti-deforestation. The customer’s product data sat scattered by component across departments, with no “product-passport” organising structure to face the EU’s tightening product-level disclosure.

The challenge

Under the twin pressure of compliance and cost, these were the core problems.

A whole vehicle spans battery, interior and structural regulations; piecemeal builds create fragmented definitions and systems.

Battery DPP and the future vehicle DPP need consistent product identifiers and data governance, or they can’t be linked.

EUDR plot-level traceability for leather interiors depends on multi-tier suppliers, with no unified collection channel.
