A first-tier domestic power-battery maker, supplying European OEMs at scale. The EU Battery Regulation layers obligations over time: carbon-footprint declaration, due diligence on cobalt/lithium/nickel/graphite, recycled-content shares, and the Digital Battery Passport mandatory from 18 Feb 2027. The customer’s carbon data was scattered across plant ledgers and spreadsheets, and supplier traceability relied on emails — far from the verifiable, traceable electronic evidence chain the EU requires.
The challenge
Under the twin pressure of compliance and cost, these were the core problems.
Battery-rule obligations stack up on tight deadlines; building PCF, due diligence and DPP separately would mean duplicated data collection and inconsistent definitions.
Battery PCF must reach cell-BOM and upstream mineral level; activity data from dozens of suppliers is hard to aggregate and verify by hand.
