EU Battery DPP 2027 countdown: four steps to a solid data foundation

Less than a year to the 18 Feb 2027 Digital Battery Passport mandate. Rather than tackling items one by one, connect PCF, traceability and ecodesign data once.

The layered challenge of the Battery Regulation

The Battery Regulation layers obligations over time: PCF declaration, critical-mineral due diligence, the Digital Battery Passport and recycled content. Tackling each separately rebuilds data repeatedly; a unified foundation satisfies many at once.

Step 1: product carbon footprint

Build a battery PCF model per ISO 14067 across cell, module and pack, ready in a declarable format.

Step 2: mine-level traceability

Cobalt/lithium/nickel/graphite must be traced to the mine level with due-diligence evidence — also the source of the DPP “origin” fields.

Step 3: ecodesign parameters

Removability, recyclability and recycled content are both regulatory requirements and key parameters reused by the DPP and future ESPR.

Step 4: generate & distribute the DPP

Feed the above into the Digital Battery Passport, configure 7-role permissions and the endpoint API, and distribute via QR/NFC.
